How this relates to us is that we are the bride of Christ and the question asked to us is, would we go with Him?

This question comes to us time and time again throughout our walk, would you go with Him? Follow Him? Trust Him and let Him lead you? It is a question that sadly most will say no to or will say yes but only in part. We must say yes to Him. To go with Him wherever He calls you, wherever He leads you, going with Him all the way unto eternity, turning from our own way, and saying yes to Christ. God shows us through His word how to do this.

Proverbs 4:20-22

“My son, give attention to my words;
Incline your ear to my sayings.
21 Do not let them depart from your eyes;
Keep them in the midst of your heart;
22 For they are life to those who find them,
And health to all their flesh.”

Solomon couldn’t follow these words, he let his eyes deceive him, his lifestyle deceive him, but he was given these words as wisdom for him and followers of God in those days, and they are given to us as followers of God today. We are given God’s word to show us how to follow Christ and how to keep going when things are not so easy in our lives. God is good and He has not saved you to fail, He has not failed us and does not expect us to fail in our walk with Him. We are not meant to go backwards or get side-tracked from left to right as life brings its difficulties. We read here how to keep going forward with Christ as our Bridegroom.

‘’Give attention to my word’’… Read your bible, read Christian books, talk to other Christians giving attention to the word of God.

‘’Listen to my sayings’’… How many of us hold our own wisdom? Our own understanding or that of our parents and others?

‘’Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart’’… Keeping the word of God in your heart is crucial, ‘’For they are life to those who find them’’.

How many of us can pick up the bible week after week finding the life of God breathing through the scriptures? The word of God brings life to us, privately, deeply, spiritually, bringing ‘’health to all their flesh’’. In these times many are sick or struggling mentally, and as things seem to crumble around us, we must keep attentive to Gods word. He is a good God and has never called you to fail.

Things are different and tough at the moment, but the call of Christ has not changed. Whether it be in tough times or easy times, the circumstance doesn’t matter, and the question remains the same, would you go with this man? Would you go with Christ? Going with a right heart?

A right heart is important, we read in Hebrews 3 that Paul warns us of the importance of this. Paul asks us to consider Christ:

‘’Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus, 2 who was faithful to Him who appointed Him…Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God’’

Christ is faithful to you this morning He has called you, drawn you and appointed you. Consider Him and come with a right heart. Something can come on this road that can cause in us an evil heart of unbelief, leading us to depart from God, to step backwards, walk away and not continue on the path we are meant to be on unto eternity.

Would you go with this man? Consider the One who loves you, the High Priest of your calling? He is the One who is faithful, who went to the cross for you, who will take you beyond all that will befall you, and your own faltering steps. He will take you all the way through unto eternity. You were called with an everlasting love. Will you go with this man, will you go with Christ?
