Thought for the Week - 21st February

Pastor Gareth Watkins

Psalm 91: 1-2

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust”.

God gives us a secret place in which we can dwell with Him, a hidden place that can be felt in our heart and within the deeps of our soul that no one else can access.

It is a place of refuge and protection from this world and all that would seek to distort and destroy. It is a place for you alone to be with God and rest in the comfort and truth of your Father’s love for you.

To be able to dwell in this place and keep that access open, our lives, actions, and speech must reflect the truth that we proclaim to live in.

The Psalmist speaks out here in truth and testament to his God, ‘’I say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress’’.

To enter into that wonderful place where the temporal and eternal merge and all else falls away, you must speak in testament to God who has already done so much for you and has so much more still.

Sadly, I hear many Christians speak in ways that reveal much of their self-serving condition, complaining, ungrateful, and defeatist without even an acknowledgement of the ways in which God has moved in their lives.

Our speech should show that we know that we are saved, forgiven, healed, transformed, protected, and provided for by the way of the cross through Christ. He is the doorway to that secret place where you can spend time with the Most High and feel His peace soak into your every pain and heart cry. He wants to abide with His children, he wants to be with you.

Set your mind on Him, seek to know Him more, stand in truth, speak in testament, and enter into the hidden place where His fullness and richness meets every need.
