In Christ we are given new life, there is an exchange. Our old sinful nature is crucified with Christ and exchanged for new life as resurrected in Him. Sadly, some parts of our old life do not want to die, perhaps the way we live, our ungodly tongue, selfishness or even fears and worry. These things are not of God but of our carnal nature, and it is for these things that Christ went to the cross and died. It is these things that we must take to Christ to be nailed to the cross time and time again, freeing us from the sins of our old lives that continue to live within us, keeping their hold, and creating a barrier to us having a relationship with God.

We need to recognise if there are things of old still living within us, still rising up and causing chaos. We need to take them to the cross to be crucified again and again until they are gone. We must not give up but keep seeking Him, keep praying, seek counsel and ministry, be desperate for that change to take place and Christ to be the way through.

Christ did not die in vain, He died so that we may have new life.

“since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him.”… This is not past tense, it is present and is for you and I today. We are no longer slaves of sin, we are no longer under the dominion of sin, we are resurrected to new life with Christ.

“We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives We are no longer slaves to sin.”… Sin has lost its power, our old nature has been done away with and life in abundance has come in exchange for it. We no longer need to be bound by sin.
