Youth Club

We are happy to hold a thriving Youth Club every Friday, and regularly enjoy an attendance of over 60 children a week.

Children get to take part in a number of exciting activities, including team games, ping pong, pool, crafts, stories and singing.  When the weather permits, we take advantage of the large field behind the church and enjoy a range of outdoor games.

We also operate a tuck shop, where children can purchase sweets to take home with them.

Our Friday night Youth Club very much based around the stories of the Bible. Our aim is to provide a safe and caring environment for children where they find out more about Jesus and His love for them.  It’s an environment where all children are valued, and is very much a fun place to be!

All Youth Club helpers are fully DBS or PVG (previously CRB) checked.  Many of the helpers are parents, teachers or classroom assistants.  Please see below for our Child Protection Policy.

Mothers and Toddlers

We hold an ever-growing Mother and Toddler group every Thursday morning at the church.

Children enjoy a number of activities, including playing with age-suitable toys, crafts, Bible stories and singing Christian songs.  Snacks and drinks are provided for children, while parents can enjoy a hot cup of tea or coffee.

Those who attend our  group find a warm and welcoming environment where children are happy, free and well cared for.  Lots of firm friendships have been formed among the adults, as well as the children.

We welcome mothers, fathers, grandparents, carers and guardians to bring their toddlers along.

All Youth Club helpers are fully PVG or DBS (previously CRB) checked.  Please see below for our Child Protection Policy.

Children Ministry

We have provision for children of all ages during our Sunday morning services:

Creche

Our creche runs on a Sunday morning for children aged 0-2 years old.  Creche arrangements are not made regularly during other meetings.  However, where required, creche facilities will be provided.

Sunday School

Our Sunday School runs for children aged 3-10 years old.  Children take part in activities related to Bible stories.  Recent activities include making Bible story displays, creating Bible character crafts and decorating biscuits.  The aim of our Sunday school is to teach children the truths of the Bible and the importance of displaying these truths in the way we live.  Our Sunda School is a very lively and fun environment, where children are active, encouraged to contribute to discussions and ask questions.

Bible Class

Our Bible class runs for children aged 10-14.  It’s a time of discussion where we look at what the Bible has to say and talk about it’s significance for us.  Young people are encouraged to contribute to discussions, ask questions and to share their own experiences.  Our Bible class is a stepping stone for young people before they feed into the main service.  It’s a relaxed time where many questions are discussed, and young people can relax and learn more in God’s presence.

Child Protection Policy

Struthers Memorial Group of Churches has a comprehensive child protection policy.  A copy of this policy is available in every branch church.  People are welcome to view this policy by application to the minister.  Everyone who works with children, young people or vulnerable adults is required to undergo training and to return a completed disclosure form from PVLG in Scotland or DBS (previously CRB) in England and Wales.
