Saturday Night Meeting 28/01/23

Pastor Gareth Watkins

But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
Some people bounce around through life not really focussed on anything. They live a life with no real goals, no direction and so many missed opportunities.

God says “I know the plans I have for you” (Jeremiah 29:11) and Daniel purposed in his heart to do God’s will for his life.

Do these words ring through your ears?

Daniel purposed in his heart!

Do you live to serve the purposes of God?

Daniel was to serve the king as a Babylonian amongst the captive Jews, yet he purposed in his heart to serve the living God.

The Babylonians changed his clothes, they changed his name, they educated him in all things Babylonian, yet they could not change his desires towards God.

He wasn’t going to break his covenant with the living God. Daniel wasn’t going to defile himself.

He purposed in his heart even if it was to mean his own death. He was a blessing to his people of his generation.

Have you purposed your heart? And do you live to serve the purposes of God?
