Thought for the Week - 26th March

JOHN 3:14-16

Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Coming up to Easter once again, it is important for us to have our focus on Jesus, who He is and what He accomplished for us.

John and his gospel is all about revealing Jesus as the son of God.

John 3:14-16

Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

See the old fashioned word “perish” at work in this scripture (e.g. that we should not perish). Without Jesus we would perish like an old piece of fruit.

But because of Jesus we can have everlasting life.

The perishing, the rotting, is going to destroy us because corruption has so rooted deeply within us. However, it is totally irreversible; God has an offer for us to have a new beginning through Jesus Christ.

From the time you believe in Jesus Christ as your saviour over sin, you shall not perish, as John says.

Only the cross of Jesus applied to our lives can save us. The blood of Jesus cleanses us from all our unrighteousness acts.

What a miracle!

Amen!
