Thought for the Week - 30th November

Proverbs 29:25

The fear of man bringeth a snare, but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe.

In our Neath branch this weekend I was relating the story of Joshua going against the five Amorites kings (Joshua chapter 10).

Wisdom and victory came the moment Joshua listened and followed spiritual instruction in what was a very tricky situation.

The same is true for us. If we listen to what others say we become afraid, trapped in the snare of what others think or say about us. The truth is the only One that really matters is God, what He thinks of us and that we live by the truth of His word.

To deal with the many different situations and circumstances in life we need wisdom and direction. The greatest wisdom and direction we can find is by listening to the voice of God. Read the word; pray in season and out and look for His guidance. That way we don’t need to be afraid of anyone’s opinion, no matter who they are. We stick to the truth and put our trust in Him.

Then like Joshua we shall see the way through and even though many ‘kings’ rise against us we shall be perfectly safe and still in the will of God.
